Trapping Hogs

Knowing that Hogs Gone Wild Dog & Gun hunts alone would not produce the results in the reduction of the number of hog removal, we turned to trapping.

Hours and hours of research, sketches and stretching my poor ol’ brain, we came up with and built our first pen trap with Saloon style doors. As they say, Everything is bigger in Texas so we went with a Big Texas Size Trap !!! Constructed of Cattle Panels, “T”-Posts and a Hogs Gone Wild custom made spring loaded Saloon Style Door with a root/trip 2-stage trigger, it turned out great. It is our plan to catch large numbers of hogs with this Bad Boy !!! Only problem is, Hogs had other plans. They would walk up and eat with their head inthe door of the trap but they wouldn't go in.

Then we tried a small pen trap with a spring loaded swing door. I had seen these things for sale everywhere! Surely they would work. Trail cam photo after photo on my Primos Truth Cam 35 said different. Count them... 10 pigs eating out side, around, even sticking their head through the door and wire sides. They ate everything they could reach without going in and left the rest for the coons and birds.

Finally after several attempts, we finally scored. Two little pigs finally tripped a guillotine style trap and got caught. My neighbor Bret Allen happen to be with me when we made the discovery. It was almost comical watching us get them out of the trap and hobbled!

Then shortly there after my son Brian took the same trap that had the ten that wouldn't go in, to another property and caught single after single. It's crazy how it works but all I can say is it's just that... WORK !!! You have to stay at it and be committed. Bait them, check them, bait them, check them... Learning from every failure! Thats why we depend on Primos Truth Cams. To tell us the truth about what's going on with our traps. "SPEAK THE LANGUAGE"
